Glanbia plc is an international Irish food company.

Glanbia is a leading dairy businesses, especially in the areas of cheese and milk production and ingredients.

Glanbia is based in Ireland but also has operations in the US, UK, Germany and Nigeria. The company employs about 4,000 people, and has an annual turnover of 1.8 billion euros.

The Irish word "glan" means "clean", whilst the word "bia" means "food".

History

Glanbia was formed through a merger between Avonmore plc and Waterford plc in 1997. The company's shares are traded on both the Dublin and London stock markets.
