History
The airline was founded on September 30, 1957. On March 18, 1958, the airline made its maiden flight, with a Vickers Viscount 779 taking off at 8:30 am Vienna local time for London.
September 26, 1960 became the only dark day in the airline's history when a Vickers Viscount 837 attempting to land at Moscow crashed near the Russian city. Thirty-one of the thirty seven people on board perished.
In 2003, the company's name changed from Austrian Airlines to Austrian.
