E.ON AG (FSE: EON) (NYSE: EON) (LSE: EON) is a German energy corporation, and one of the 30 members of the DAX stock index of major German companies.
E.ON is one of the major public utility companies of Europe and the world’s largest investor-owned energy service provider. It has acquired Sydkraft in Sweden and Powergen in the United Kingdom. These have now been rebranded to E.ON Sverige and E.ON UK respectively. The company currently tries to acquire Endesa in Spain.
The expansion of the European Union allowed E.ON to expand itself in Central Europe, into countries such as Hungary and Poland, and in neighbouring countries Romania and Bulgaria.
E.ON is also present in Russia, where it is engaged in a natural gas company. E.ON most of Scandinavia.
In the United States, E.ON has renamed LG&E Energy to E.ON U.S., and is headquartered in Louisville.
