You seem to run a pretty old version of Semantic MediaWiki. Upgrading gives you a ton of new features. Inline queries! And much better statistics.

I know, I've wanted to upgrade to a newer MW/SMW release, but my non-profit hosting service (actually some people I know personally), are not that fast with making the upgrade to PHP5. They've said it will be available soon. Thanks for the feedback. Walden 16:29, 23 January 2007 (CET)

Hi i really wanted some extensions like this to my wiki. I'm not dev but i'm trying to do a service to catalog all my city. Show all places. Looking your extension, it's more and less what i would like. But i think to stay better, i think you could do an option to search by fields. Example: on search you could filter results like: if you add in search, country USA, and sector: supermarket, you will see all supermarket located in USA. If you filter by city and add new york and let all the other fields blank, you will see all kind of companys in the city new york. Another think i really wanted is show the filtered results in a map. example: http://www.umsu.manchester.ac.uk/wikispectus/extensions/map/map.php?split=1

I think if you use www.paulgu.com skin, i think will give a good look too

I would like to use this too, to show houses that are to sell or rent. Will be great

Hi Lleoliveirabr, currently Wikicompany is in need of an hosting-service migration (the hosting service is going to stop soon) and a major software update (PHP5, Mediawiki and the Semantic Wiki extension). The mapping technology used is also outdated by now. I hope to find the time to start some of this this month. Perhaps then I'll find the time to release some of the custom extensions. Hi Walden, great to know you will update you host and release your extension soon. I didn't understand when you say the mapping techonology is outdate, as i can see you don't have any map integration with companies location "see places by categories on google maps". Or you were saying about mapping technology of semantic? What are the new things you think in implement on the extensions. I'm really very anxiously to have this on my wiki. Thanks. Is there any way to start a categories index? Can anyone start it on the main page? It would look like this: Blue Widgets:

  • XYZ Company
  • LMN COmpany

Green Widigts

  • DET Company
  • STU Company

Wikicompany does not work with "categories", it uses semantic tags (which are currently not shown in articles, because the extension needs to be fixed/updated). I want to create a new kind of browse & search system based on these tags. You are right that something needs to be improved in the search interface on Wikicompany. However I don't understand your use of blue/green/... colours, why use colors with an alphabetical index? If you have other ideas to improve Wikicompany let me know. Ignore the colours I was just trying to show how a list could come together. I could just as easily have said:

Butchers:

  • XYZ Company
  • LMN COmpany

Bakers:

  • DET Company
  • STU Company

Candlestick Makers:

  • UVW Company
  • PQR Company


I just wanted to show an example without using the name of real companies or industries.
