STMicroelectronics NV (often abbreviated to ST) is one of the world's largest semiconductor companies.
The company is registered in the Netherlands, but its headquarters is in Geneva, Switzerland.

Products
The company produces a wide range of semiconductor products, including:
- Application-specific analog integrated circuits (ICs)
- Wireless and computer peripheral ASICs
- Automotive and digital consumer application specific standard products (ASSPs)
- MPEG-2 decoder ICs
- Discrete semiconductor products
- Non-volatile memory, including NOR Flash memory.
ST also designs and produces microcontrollers.

History
The ST group was founded in 1987 by the merger of the Italian SGS Microelectronica and the French Thomson Semiconducteurs.
In 1998, the company's name was changed from SGS-Thomson Microelectronics to STMicroelectronics.
