Nordic Semiconductor ASA (formerly Nordic VLSI) is a Norwegian manufacturer of semiconductor products.
The company specializes in microchip designs for wireless communication and multimedia applications, and is a leader in high-speed data converters and short-range radio communication chips.

History
The company was founded in 1983, as an offshoot of SINTEF in Trondheim.
SINTEF had been working on designing integrated circuits since the 1970s, when production technology began to be available to design teams outside of large corporations.
Nordic Semiconductor was listed on the Oslo stock exchange in 1996.
