Calyon is the corporate and investment banking division of the Crédit Agricole (CA) banking group, primarily serving clients operating outside of France.
The origins of the company are represented in its name: 'CA' for the initials of Crédit Agricole and 'lyon' for Lyonnais. After the acquisition of Crédit Lyonnais by Crédit agricole in 2003, Crédit Agricole Indosuez (CAI) and the investment banking business of Crédit Lyonnais merged, giving birth to Calyon. This merger took place on May 1, 2004.
Calyon's securities business in Asia retains the name CLSA (formerly Crédit Lyonnais Securities Asia).
